Microsoft is testing a faster and more customisable File Explorer and context menu experience in Windows 11 Insider builds. This matters because any future change to core shell behaviour will affect how your users handle files all day, so it is worth planning user training and checking any shell extensions your tools rely on.
New Windows 11 Insider Preview builds have shipped to the Beta and Experimental Channels. If you run a test ring, keep these lab only for now, as Microsoft is still calling out issues with feature flags and renewed flight certificates that could confuse troubleshooting.
Microsoft has also pushed new Release Preview builds for supported Windows 11 versions, including 24H2 and 25H2. These are the builds to watch for near term change, so IT teams should review the linked release notes, test against key apps, and get ready to roll out once the updates hit general release.
