Apple has pushed out public beta 4 for iOS 27, macOS 27, iPadOS 27 and tvOS 27 after shipping developer beta 6 earlier the same day. If you run test fleets, plan time to update lab devices and keep these builds off anything staff rely on to work.
The latest macOS 27 Golden Gate beta 6 also adds a fifth dynamic wallpaper of the Golden Gate Bridge. This is cosmetic, but it is a quick way to spot test machines in screenshots or on a desk.
Hardware and platform shifts
A short video in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 Release Candidate appears to show Visual Intelligence on rumoured camera AirPods. If this ships, expect more interest in audio wearables on your network and start thinking about how you will treat them in meeting rooms and secure areas.
Epic Games has filed its latest response to Apple’s request for court ordered settlement talks in the long running App Store case. The outcome will shape how third party app stores and payment flows work on Apple kit, so keep an eye on this if you support teams with custom or cross platform apps.
Apple is also pushing back on the US Department of Justice, saying the DOJ’s latest antitrust challenge to its document requests “fails at every level”. This is background noise for now, but long term antitrust pressure is one of the few things that can force platform changes you then have to support at short notice.
