Apple Wi-Fi 7 upgrades and new Mac workflow tools

Apple has updated the Mac mini and Mac Studio with full Wi-Fi 7 support, and 9to5Mac has listed all Apple devices that now support all Wi-Fi 7 features in one place in its round-up. This matters if you are planning network upgrades, as you can line up Wi-Fi 7 access points with a clear view of which Macs and other Apple kit in your fleet will actually use the new standard.

Apple has also shared a behind-the-scenes video for its new Mac mini with M6 ad, showing the work that went into the spot. While it is marketing, it is a quick way to show non-technical stakeholders what the latest Mac mini looks like and how Apple is positioning it, which can help when you are justifying desktop refreshes.

Apps and AI admin

Note-taking app Notability has added a new desktop workflow on Mac that lets users start recording sessions directly from calendar events, with notes then organised around their schedule. This is worth a look if your teams live in meetings, as it could cut down on manual filing of meeting notes and recordings and make it easier to find what was agreed later.

OpenAI has announced a ChatGPT Admin plugin for ChatGPT Work and Codex that lets workspace admins manage users and permissions, analyse usage, and build reports from within a conversation. If your business is trialling ChatGPT Work, this gives IT a clearer control point for access and audit, so it is one to factor into any AI policy or pilot planning.

Apple has also renewed its push for expedited discovery in its trade secret misappropriation lawsuit against OpenAI after OpenAI tried to block the faster timeline. You do not need to act on this right now, but if you are rolling out AI tools at scale it is a reminder to keep an eye on how legal disputes between big vendors might affect contracts and risk.
