Apple home and iPad updates that might hit your budget

Apple is expected to unveil a new HomePod mini 2, an updated Apple TV 4K, a new HomeView hub, and smart home accessories with LG at its upcoming home event. If your offices use Apple gear for meeting rooms or reception, you may want to hold off any speaker or TV box refresh until we see how this new line-up fits.

Reports say the next iPad mini with an OLED display will be “considerably more expensive” than the current $599 model. If your teams rely on iPad mini for field work or check-in kiosks, factor a higher unit cost into next quarter’s hardware budget or look at current stock while pricing is lower.

Apple has tested microphones and an upgraded Siri Remote for the new Apple TV 4K. For IT, that could mean new voice input paths in meeting rooms and open areas, so it is worth planning how you will lock down settings and manage who can talk to these boxes.

The new HomeView smart home hub is reported to ship in November with an A18 chip and four colour options. If you are testing Apple for office control like displays or sensors, this gives a more powerful central device to standardise on, but you will want to check how it fits with your current HomePod setup.

Apple is also planning big iPhone Duo demo experiences in select retail stores ahead of its first foldable iPhone launch. If your users push for early adoption of new form factors, it may be worth a site visit so IT can assess durability, app behaviour, and support impact before you approve them for business use.
